Star Wars ‘holochess’ recreated with 3D projector fan
The game has been known to provoke extreme passions with one character warning that ‘Wookies sometimes rip people’s arms off when they lose’.
The Star Wars game dejarik, also known as ‘holochess’, has been recreated with a 3D fan projector by a designer of interactive props from the Star Wars universe.
The game features holographic representations of pieces, which are often exotic aliens, and is played on a chequered circular board.
Ian Martin, who promotes his work under the Dejarik Creations brand name, has posted a video on social media, showing a recreation of the game made by embedding the 3D projector fan into a table, enabling the pieces to appear to stand up and move around.
Dejarik can sometimes provoke extreme passion, according to movie and TV news website Screenrant. In a report on the video, the website said: “While dejarik doesn’t feature too prominently in the films, one scene in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope does see R2-D2 best Chewbacca at the game, prompting Solo to warn that Wookies sometimes get mad and rip people’s arms off when they lose.”
