Maybe. Let's take a closer look.

Now Microsoft Teams Rooms has Front Row with 21:9 aspect ratio, does that mean we need 21:9 displays?

As part of a series of short articles, Visual Displays' Director Greg Jeffreys discusses all things AV…

We're designing and building large screen displays for the current wave of organisations creating lab and test spaces - a positive trend acknowledging that hybrid space workflows are still work in progress.

And the big question is: shall we make our display at 21:9?

In these deliberations, one fundamental fact must never be forgotten: Microsoft Teams Rooms 2022 and beyond need displays a step change upwards in size.

Will your workflows need exclusively 21:9? If not, keep that needed width, add the height to add the option of using 16:9. You then also add the option of adjusting the vertical position of the 21:9 'strip' within the overall screen area.

With standard ceiling heights, 120" displays seem to be the largest practicable size. The VDL Digital Canvas 120" evaluation system will be making the rounds from later this month for you to see for yourself.

In practice 21:9 displays are cut down 16:9. It's pretty much the same price to have the extra height.
