AVIXA's new ISCR Standard
AVIXA's new display image quality standard - ISCR - could have been designed specifically for Microsoft Teams rooms and hybrid workspaces.
Image quality in practice is image contrast, the single attribute we need to focus on to deliver great user experiences.
Contrast is widely misunderstood because brochure contrast ratios give misleading impressions. Brochure contrast ratios are sequential: two readings taken at different times.
Under normal meeting/teaching conditions what we need to know is what the difference is between the black level and the white level - on the same screen at the same time. Also known as ANSI contrast level.
The new ISCR ('Image System Contrast Ratio') standard applies to all display types e.g. projection, dvLED, flat panel etc - on a like for like basis.
In meeting/teaching spaces - namely standard pro AV territory - image contrast is a function of ambient light.
If you want to understand more about image contrast and how to deal with it, then please download my White Paper 'MTRs - The Bigger Picture' where this is addressed in detail.
If you want to learn about the displays you need for Microsoft Teams Rooms - and especially the new Front Row 21:9 aspect ratio screens - then please download Visual Displays' new MTR Quick Guide for full details.
