Projection done properly…
Microsoft’s power move to projection in Teams Rooms - and the new Front Row 21:9 displays, generates concerns for those who’ve only seen projection on white screens - and not ALR projection, which is projection done properly.
Executed properly, ALR (ambient light rejecting) projection is currently the best overall solution for hybrid work and teaching spaces. Resolution, contrast (black levels), luminance (cd/m2), heat dissipation/management, capital costs, running costs, environmental impact. Drill down on all these and projection ticks the boxes. But only done properly with ALR projection.
Environmental impact? LCA (Life Cycle Analysis)? Carbon footprint. The (wind-turbine driven) searchlight is focusing on this target in 2023.
Here’s a case study of a major installation Visual Displays carried out at Glasgow University, where the carpenter’s saying of ‘measure twice and cut once’ meant the process of consultancy, design, installation and sign-off we went through was rewarded with this landmark project’s success.
The screen technologies used here are dnp Supernova 08-85 (for standard lenses) and STL05 (for UST lenses).
