An Immersive Experience
What do we really mean by ‘immersive’ in Microsoft Teams Rooms and all hybrid meeting spaces?
‘Immersive’ applies to both the medium (the display) and the message (the content, its layout). Let’s focus on the display.
To be physically immersive, the display needs to fill a minimum area of our vision (FOV - field of view). This can be done with a flat or concave curved display.
In hybrid, we need a balance between enclosing in-person participants, but without the feeling in the room space feeling weird or claustrophobic!
In practice, a gentle curve is best as this gives powerfully positive visual cues to in-room participants and creates a feeling of connection and reciprocity with the remote participants.
In Visual Displays we use powerful simulation modelling tools to create the ultimate MTR and hybrid meeting/teaching displays.
