What size displays are needed in Microsoft Teams Rooms and for Front Row?

Of course AVIXA’s DISCAS standard applies here, but it needs to be applied in a more critical way.

What size displays are needed in Microsoft Teams Rooms and for Front Row?

We are currently updating this standard to address the issues thrown up by hybrid display content and layouts, but it still works really well if you apply the main image height criterion to the main content window rather than the screen itself.

However it’s not black and white, and the fact that DISCAS sets MINIMUM image size is particularly important here because the whole point of Front Row is to present the bottom row of remote participants as close to lifesize as possible.

For four seat Front Row 21:9 systems you can use either 105” flat panels, or the new 113” Epson/DNP ALR projection displays, which start from under £7000 end user prices.

For six seat Microsoft Signature Rooms (medium) the choice is between our 152” ALR projected display (as featured in the new ProjecTABLE product shown below) or 0.9mm pitch dvLED. Once the fine pitch dvLED offerings get to the point of lower brightness, lower power consumption, heat emissions - and much lower cost - then they will be commercially more feasible. Currently the cost of ALR projection per m2 compared with dvLED’s capital and lifetime running costs make it the best option all round.
