UST - a game changer for MTRs

Once in a while there’s a game changer in displays for hybrid meeting and teaching spaces - and with direct impact on Microsoft Teams Rooms.

UST - a game changer for MTRs

I’ve been working with Epson for some time now to support Microsoft to realise their Team Room designs that use projection - and to deliver these in AVIXA standards-compliant ways.

These all have to use ALR (ambient light rejecting) screen technologies coupled with 3LCD laser projection. The drivers here are the need for a screen that’s black until projected light hits it - and that the projected light has to be from a three chip projection technology in order to deliver lifelike colours to present remote participants and content realistically.

We’ve already created a new standard in Signature Meeting Rooms with the 152” 21:9 Front Row display, 3.5m (11.5’) x 1.5m (5’). But the surprise that’s entered left field is lower down the food chain.

The launch of new so-called ‘super ultra short throw’ projectors has changed both technology and price point. The new Epson EB-810E is a case in point, delivering (pixel shifted) 4K, with 5,000 lumens at an incredibly low price point.

This means you can have a standards-compliant 120” 16:9 or 113” 21:9 display from less than £7000 (€8000) end user price. It’s super lightweight so can be mounted on any wall or with freestanding credenza.
