The Hive - centre stage is the massive 21:9 display.
Let’s take a closer look.
In the new video, just posted by Michel Bouman - the projector is apparently an Epson EB-PU series fitted with their UST lens. (This lens, with its extensive H/V shift, is one reason we use these projectors in our VDL Digital Canvas displays.)
The projector sits under the screen on a small stand.
As this projector has (pixel shifted) 4K resolution enhancement this means that a horizontal band on one edge of the image is unused, to crop the image from 16:9 down to 21:9.
This design configuration can realistically be used indefinitely, and the projector is redeployable in any case, which should help those wondering if now is the right time to go ahead. Yes, you can do this now, and we'll help you!
Although we are making these configurations now, we also supply the same width displays but in full height 16:9. This means that the 21:9 Front Row layout can be used in a full width strip, at variable height, with projected background strips to match the back wall. However, a full 16:9 image can also be displayed for other modes of use - for pretty much the same money!
