Happy New Year!
I didn’t expect 2022 to be so emphatically about Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTRs) and the whole hybrid work/teaching space thing. ISE 2023 is just around the corner and, if anything, MTRs dominate our agendas there even more.
Why did ‘Teams Rooms’ so effortlessly become the phrase we all used in 2022? Obviously the combination of Microsoft's heft and commitment counts for a lot, but the leadership shown in addressing the design of the room itself, was unique. As this is my specialism - holistic, standard-based, user-focused consultancy - I really noticed this.
I’ve always been a fan and power user of LinkedIn, the closest thing to social media I still engage with. But the reaction to, and engagement with, my regular posts on Teams Room design, hybrid teaching and meeting spaces in 2022 really caught me by surprise. This time last year I wrote an article on MTRs in 2022 for the digital edition of AV Magazine which apparently was the most read of 2022. And as much as I’d like to think the quality of my writing was the cause (!), it really showed how much proAV and UC has coalesced around this focus area.
AV Magazine published a major section on Teams Rooms at the end of last year, to which I also contributed an article. Reviewing the section again now, I think it’s an essential read when time planning for ISE.
I’ll be at ISE the whole week, mostly around the Epson booth, where the Visual Displays team has helped to design a game-changing Front Row display which is a must see for anyone specifying or installing hybrid meeting and teaching spaces. If you’d like a quick meeting there, please email me.
