VDL launches dedicated Immersive & 3D Division

Responding to growing demand for experiential and immersive environments, Visual Displays Ltd has launched a dedicated Immersive + 3D division designed to help integrators and end users adopt immersive technologies more practically and cost-effectively. The new division aims to simplify the immersive landscape while also providing improved system architecture options for existing specialists.

Explaining the rationale behind the launch, co-founder Greg Jeffreys said:

“We launched this new division following strong organic growth in immersive and experiential projects, reflecting wider market trends identified by AVIXA and others. This represents a major opportunity for AV integrators at a time when margins in many traditional AV markets are under increasing pressure, particularly within the highly commoditised Teams and meeting room sector.”

The aim of the new division is to make immersive systems both more understandable and more accessible through advances in technology, workflows and deployment methodologies.

“Immersive systems are often perceived as being costly and complex, so we’ve developed a range of practical entry-level packages and support services designed to simplify deployment,” continued Jeffreys. “For example, our entry-level multi-projector immersive packages will start from around £6,000. We can either transform existing spaces into immersive environments or integrate immersive systems within existing rooms and facilities.”

The packages will include curved and cylindrical projection systems, two- to four-sided CAVEs and floor projection environments.

“We use AI-assisted parametric 3D CAD modelling to streamline design and deployment. This allows us to deliver tailored immersive systems while still offering structured package pricing.”

The company has also produced a free vendor-agnostic guide designed to help integrators and end users better understand the different types of immersive display systems available. Search for “The Essential Guide to Immersive Displays”.

VDL will work either alongside specialist content creation agencies or with customers’ existing media and collateral. All immersive packages include options for content creation and media playback, while VDL’s hardware-based “technical layer” architecture is designed to maintain reliability and stability throughout the system lifecycle.

In addition to traditional immersive environments, the new division will support both 2D representation and true stereoscopic 3D visualisation.

“The VDL 3D Digital Canvas passive stereo projection system can work on almost any surface, including standard office walls, allowing multiple users to experience and collaborate using shared stereoscopic viewing,” said Jeffreys. “When users experience real-time stereoscopic 3D visualisation, the level of engagement and spatial understanding can be transformative. We also offer full content creation services and can convert selected existing 2D content into stereo 3D.”

The new VDL Immersive + 3D division is already working with both new and existing partners.

“I’m a great admirer of pioneers such as Igloo Vision and other specialist immersive content developers, and I want to play a positive role in helping the sector continue to grow and mature,” Jeffreys concluded.
